Advisory: First responders to conduct realistic training exercise at Missouri Capitol Friday that could restrict traffic in immediate area of Capitol building

The Department of Public Safety advises the media that today, Friday, Nov. 1, 2019, first responders will be conducting a planned emergency response training exercise that is limited in scope at the State Capitol. The training exercise will be conducted in a realistic manner, will be confined to specific areas of the Capitol, and could last several hours. The exercise could lead to minor traffic restrictions in the immediate area of the Capitol building.

The training exercise is part of a long-term effort to increase coordination of response activities between multiple agencies in the event of a real emergency.

The training exercise will not include an evacuation of the Capitol, special effects, or simulated injuries. Business in the Capitol will be conducted as normal, except for potential restrictions in limited areas.

Signs will be posted at the perimeter of the exercise area to notify people that training is in progress.
