SEMA News Release
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
May 22, 2019
Local governments and eligible nonprofit agencies in 13 counties included in FEMA-4435-DR are strongly encouraged to attend meetings, which discuss application process and FEMA program rules
The State Emergency Management Agency will conduct Applicant Briefings in early June for eligible local government and eligible nonprofit agencies in 13 counties designated by the federal government on May 20 for inclusion in the federal disaster 4435-DR for flooding in Missouri from March 11 to April 16, 2019.
Attendance at one of the Applicant Briefings is urged for any agency considering applying for federal assistance for damage to roads, bridges and other public infrastructure along with emergency response costs in the counties of Andrew, Atchison, Buchanan, Carroll, Chariton, Holt, Mississippi, New Madrid, Pemiscot, Perry, Platte, Ray, and Ste. Genevieve. These agencies include special districts like road districts; water and sewer districts; and nonprofits that incurred disaster-related expenses.
Planning calls for applicant briefings to be held regionally; prospective applicants are free to attend any meeting. Attendance by all agencies considering applying for Federal Emergency Management Agency assistance is strongly encouraged because the briefings will explain program changes, eligibility information, the federal reimbursement process, documentation requirements and other essential program information.
SEMA encourages public officials and community leaders in the 13 designated counties to share information about the Applicant Briefings with all potential applicants to ensure they have an opportunity to attend and submit a request for FEMA Public Assistance.
Additional information about the Applicant Briefings and the FEMA Public Assistance program is available on the SEMA website at http://sema.dps.mo.gov/ or directly on the program page: http://sema.dps.mo.gov/programs/state_public_assistance.php

(Applicant Briefings are not intended for the general public. FEMA-4335-DR does not include an Individual Assistance designation.)
