Applicant Briefings begin Tuesday, June 4, for local governments, nonprofits included in federal disaster declaration for flooding, severe storms March 11 to April 16

Local governments and eligible agencies in 13 counties included in federal Public Assistance disaster declaration strongly encouraged to attend the meetings, which discuss application process and FEMA program rules

Following the federal disaster declaration for flooding and severe storms between March 11 and April 16, the State Emergency Management Agency will conduct Applicant Briefings for local government and nonprofit agencies in the 13 counties eligible for federal assistance for damage to roads, bridges, public infrastructure and emergency response costs. Those counties are: Andrew, Atchison, Buchanan, Carroll, Chariton, Holt, Mississippi, New Madrid, Pemiscot, Perry, Platte, Ray and Ste. Genevieve.

Six applicant briefings are scheduled and open to all eligible agencies that plan to apply for assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency in order to better understand program changes, eligibility information, the federal reimbursement process, documentation requirements and other essential program information. All Requests for Public Assistance must be submitted to FEMA within 30 days of the May 20 disaster declaration date, or June 19. Applicants should note that the Requests for Public Assistance (RPAs) must first be received by SEMA, processed, and then submitted to FEMA by the June 19 deadline, and to plan accordingly.
